JEC Oxfordshire Went Clay Pigeon Shooting - Thursday 18th July

The 14 Members who attended in 2023 had such a great time that it was agreed we should return. The event was enjoyed wqually by the women present, with appropriate guns, just as much as the men – and some did at least as well !!

This year19 Region Members and Friends met up in Edgehill for an afternoon's shooting. All present enjoyed their 25 clays and there was some fierce competition. Out of a theoretical maximum of 50 points, the average scopre was 12 = so three better than last year.

Pleasingly, there was a clear 1st, a tie for 2nd and a 3rd. Then we had an early dinner at one of our favourite hostelries, the nearby Falcon. The sun, the shooting, the food and the friewndship were all excellent.

There was a great gang assembled

Most of those who shot in 2023 returned, to be joined by a nyumber of newer faces. Alan Richell, Eric Lanyon, Mark Tickle, Derek Reynolds, Harry and Connie Rhodes assured us they had had a good time.

Our Shooting Improved a Little on 2023 !

Last year's average was 9 points out of the possible 50, from 25 clays, whereas this year it was 12 - a 33% increase. The individual scores did range from 0 to 22, but all said they had enjoyed it and even these scopres were a testament to our trainers, leaders, adjudicators and safetry Officers - Adrian Bollon and Andy North.

Whilst it would not be appropriate to retail all the individual scores, it is worth reporting that Angie Reed beat many of the mean with a score of 9.

What remains unclear is whther Dave Nixon did better or worse with his two pairs of glasses.....

Our thanks must also go to Connie Rhodes and Angie who worked hard keeping the scores.

A Hot Afternoon But The Relevant (& Relative) 'Hot Shots' soon became Clear

After or Region Chairman had done the maths it was time for the results.

In third place came Barry Hack with 18 points. Alan Richell and Steve Penny tied for 2nd with 20 and it was John Reed, with 22 points, that came out the winner.

And then we could get on our way to the Falcon for a nice early dinner, some refreshing nectars and lots of good chat.

And our Fish & Chips On A Train Trip was then only 2 days away. All agreed we will return in 2025, hoping for another 33% increase in average scores.......
