JEC Oxfordshire Region Drive It Day Trip Around The Cotswolds - Saturday 20th April

11 Jaguars, 1 Rolls Royce and 1 Bentley, came together for a 70 mile, figure of eight, Drive It Day Weekend road trip starting and finishing in Burford. The Jaguars were variously old and young (3 E-Types, 1 XF, 1 F-Pace, 5 Modern XKs and an f-Type )but all the drivers and their vehicles enjoyed the wonderful vistas, classic Cotswolds villages as well as sights of bluebells en masse.

The Joining Up at Burford Garden Centre Delivered Quite a Show !

When all were fully assembled, (Trip Organiser, the Oxon Treasurer, Chris Allen ended up late due to roadworks !), the showing of cars attracted much positive attention. This was triggered by both the Drive It Day Rally Plates and Oxon Region's 'On Tour' Windscreen tags.

Steve Penny, active Oxfordshire Region Member & Committee Member, also supports the Swindon Region. He therefore invited Swindon Region Members who fancied it to join in. 4 cars and Members. complete with Drive It Day plates were therefore at the Garden Centre as the earliest Oxon arrivals appeared. Nice shock to receive, enhancing the drive's impact.

Our Organiser, Chris, Had Curated a Great Drive !

The figure of eight route was simply excellent and, again, the DID plates on the splendid machines attracted many glances, smiles and questions.

We must have passed though at least 25 chocolate box beautiful Cotswold stone villages.

In between these, the stunning views and flora and fauna on display were simply stunning. At one pause / catch up point it even turned out that we'd stopped next to a rather older type of conveyance, with no DID plate to be seen !

All this was helped by the incredibly sunny and warm weather. The soft tops occassionally felt like putting their tops up whilst those in tin tops only wished they could lower them !

And rounding the day off, as we passed through Burfoed once more, a line of Jaguars - showing their Drive It Day plates - were coming the other way. It was a real pity that the traffic then chose to get moving, so we never worked out who they were or where they were from.....

Everyone Had A Great Time, But Only Some Of Them Managed To Stay Together !

Rollers and Bentleys can't go everwhere that slimline Jags can (or so it turns out !). 13 Cars were together at the start and at lunch, but only 4 managed to stay together through to the end.

Absolutely none of that was Chris's fault and there were only 2 turn-arounds for wrong turns in the whole 70 miles driven and 5,498 feet ascended !

Feedback received asince confirms that everyone had a good time none-the-less.
