It Was A Wonderful Evening For Admiring Jaguars
Once everyone was assembled, our Chairman read his usual Parish Notices and explained the few rules of the competition. No 'Concours D'Elegance' or ' Pride & Joy' here, just 'Most liked' of those present.
There was quite a bit of chatting between the loyal ladies present. We are more than happy to assume that they were debating the finer points of Jaguar wheel nuts or something....
There was exactly the healthy debating and wind-ups that we'd hoped for. The Chairman opening up his XF bonmnet to show off all that dirty plastic was probably not likely to be a winning tactic.
Not sure though why E-Type drivers feel the need to lift their bonnets either and again it wasn't exactly a winning formula for them either.
Soft tops dropping their tops did seem to make quite a difference though....
The Two Winners Were Certainly Worthy
About half of the Jaguars present attained scores and half therefore didn't.
Pedictably the E-Types and Mk2s and modern XKS all attracted votes.
Tony Cunnington was the worthy, and clear, winner of the Pre-'85 class with his superb Glass Black Mark2.
Region stalwart Dave Nixon won the post-'85 class with his lovely light blus X100 XK.
Both were suitably gracious whilst winners, as well as rather surprised.
Debating The Merits of Different Models & Colours Was Entertaining
Having 2 x E-Types (both in shades of white), 2 x Mk2s (Black & Red), plus 5 Modern XKs (of which no less than three were 'Red' - even if a mix of X100 and X150, Rs and not) was always going to get the talk flowing.
As a result, the evening flew by with everyone equally amused and satisfied by the evening's outcome.
Here's to next year's 'return match'.
