This is the next one in JEC Oxfordshire Region's series of very popular illustrated car talks.

Lawrence Bleasdale is one of 7 'share-owners' of this UK Land Speed Record Car and will be joined by another Member of the ownership syndicate. We hope that Andrew Hurdle, who originally built and drove her at Santa Pod, in the early '80s, may also be able to join us.

The car's subsequent history is perhaps better known, as it was the car Richard Hammiond "took off in" and had a spectacular crash in at nearly 320mph on Elvington Airfield, during filming for the BBC's Top Gear.

Vampire even has Jaguar connections, as the rear suspension and brakes are Jaguar, and the afterburner came from a Sepecat Jaguar and the engine from an ex-RAF Red Arrow Folland Gnat !

We will hold this talk at our usual venue that has a bar, plenty of parking and a large main room. A collection will be taken for the Region’s Charity of the Year, Crohn's and Colitis UK.
