We were given our itinerary for the days ahead and then drove in convoy to the hotel where dinner was served in the conservatory.
With a 130 mile drive ahead of us we were up early on Monday morning and after a hearty breakfast we were on the road for 10.30 heading for a our drive towards Donegal crossing the border at Pettigo. We headed for the scenic town of Ardara for lunch in The Courthouse Restaurant and Bakery where a table had been reserved. The meal choice was excellent with a wide selection of freshly baked produce
With great food in our belly we set off to drive the famous Glengesh Pass, a sight to behold with scenery to die for.
Following signs for The Wild Atlantic Way our next stop was Glencolmcille Folk Village where we spent the afternoon wandering in and out of the various cottages soaking up the atmosphere of days gone by.
We headed home via Killybegs with its magnificent fishing fleet on full view at the harbour. Bypassing Donegal town and into Laghy returning to the hotel by Kesh. Over dinner that night the talk was of the scenery we had come across that day with everyone looking forward in anticipation for day three.
Up early and out for 10.00 the cars made their way to Florence Court House where they were expecting us for a full tour of this magnificent property. Our tour guide was very informative and took us round the complete house explaining how life was for the rich in those days.
We had lunch in their tearooms before setting off to Navar Forest for the scenic drive to the Cliffs of Magho.
The uninterrupted view at the top of the mountain was something else showing Lough Erne in all its glory, we were able to point out all the various towns around it.
Back for dinner to the hotel for our farewell meal and after breakfast next morning said our goodbyes and all travelled home.
Another great experience was had. Well done boys and thanks for sharing this part of the world, we really enjoyed ourselves
