On Thursday 3rd October JEC NI met at Tullyglass Hotel for their October adventure. Our chairman Ed Shaw had organised a walking tour of Ballymena based Wrightbus.
We had 35 members gathered in the warm autumn sunshine for the short drive to the factory.
On arrival we were greeted at the front gate by our two guides and taken into the main conference hall and welcomed with tea and biscuits.
We then heard from one of the company's senior sales staff who gave us a run down on the company's fast growing success.
Founded in 1946 the company has gone from strength to strength now having a workforce of over 2000. They were taken over in 2019 by JCB and since then have had five years of continuous financial growth building diesel, electric and hydrogen buses.
We saw on our tour the chassis being assembled and the completed buses getting all the various checks before delivery. Some this week were for Manchester,London and Germany.
A fascinating story of this Ballymena company's success in our ever changing environment and a very informative peek into the future of transport was had.
