Visit to local independent

October’s meeting is normally a technical event or, site visit, but given the uncertainty with Jaguar Dealerships due to the Reimagine Strategy, our local dealer was not overly receptive to a visit. Instead, we went seeking a local garage who could support the members with expertise in servicing and repairs, which is why we went along one evening to RM Motor Repairs, who recently opened new premises in Banchory. It had to be an evening visit, and the numbers reinforces the impression that members are looking to avoid driving in the dark nights as only 10 members and guests were able to come along, for what was a very interesting and informative site visit. Reece, the owner, was more than happy to demonstrate the technology in a modern independent workshop and talk engine issues with the folks there. To ensure something interesting on the ramp, Jim Mann’s Range Rover Sport SVR was in the air, all 4 wheels off, whilst new rear brake pads were installed, and the car was treated to an underbody Lanoguard coating. Earlier in the day, there had been an XKR Coupe on the ramps, showing just how bad an X-150 can suffer from subframe corrosion when used all year round and not properly cared for. After thanking Reese for his time and effort, folks retired to the local hostelry for supper, where there was lots of chat over what we had just learned. Our December meeting is our Christmas Lunch, so get in touch to reserve your places.
