We manged to obtain a total of 100 Jaguars, all from JEC members own collections spanning the Marques entire history to celebrate the 100 years of William Lyons.
With much deliberation 30 cars were chosen for the time line display in the marque of the show area showing various models of Jaguar through the decades from 2 early Swallows, a 1935 SS 100 right through to the current I-Pace.
Unfortunately, we were only allowed 18 cars for the parade which was a bit unfortunate as we had hoped all 30 cars could be used, however the parade was excellent and Wayne Scott did a marvellous job commentating and interviewing the drivers.
Our marshals did a brilliant job getting the remaining 70 cars parked in our allotted area which was a bit tight but made a good showcase of the vast array of different models.
The welcome arch was up, the JEC gazebo and the timeline storyboards were all in place for the show opening - a lot of work and a couple of sleepless nights.
It was fantastic meeting members from different regions as far afield as Yorkshire, Northumberland and the Isle of Wight, to name but a few, and all were welcome in our events shelter out of the sun. We had a copious supply of water for anyone in need and Bridget made 2 very large flasks for tea and coffee and, of course, cake.
On the subject of cake, the icing on the cake for the day was being awarded the best club stand of the show. This was a fantastic testimony to the hard work put in by all the volunteers and quite a surprise as we didn’t know anything about there being awards; a great way to end the day and an opportunity to parade with the trophy.
