Out and about in June

On the 13th of June, 10 cars and 20 members had a leisurely run through Royal Deeside to the Boat Inn at Aboyne, where supper was served. Whilst the run took place in the evening sunshine, when we came out from the restaurant the heavens had opened and the run home was pretty soggy.

Then, on the 29th of June, it was THE BIG ONE in Scotland – The Scottish Jaguar Enthusiasts Day at the Riverside Museum in Glasgow was the reincarnation of The Scottish Jaguar Day, which has been held at various venues over the years, most recently the Antiques Centre at Doune. Hatched by our own Jim Mann, the event involved all 4 of the Scottish JEC regions and was also supported by JDC Scotland to help swell the number of Jaguars presented on the Events Square of this iconic building on the River Clyde. 106 cars pre-registered and almost all made it along on the day, with just a couple of call-offs due to illness. We were blessed with fine dry weather, which had looked somewhat in doubt earlier in the week, and our JEC Chairman Mike Horlor and wife Vicki made the journey north, as did JEC General Manager, James Blackwell – thank you. It was agreed between the Scottish Regions that we would aim to raise money for charity and in the end a total of £1,523.24 was raised for Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA).

Should we do it again in 2025, what are your thoughts?
