Sadly, I have to report the death of Patrick Sutton in May, he had fought a fairly long battle with cancer, there was a quiet family funeral for him at the beginning of June. Patrick helped with arrangements for some of the shows we attended and will be missed at club nights along with his dry wit and humour, He said to me a few weeks ago he had given it “his best shot” and that was how he wanted to be remembered. Some shows have now restarted at Moorville Hall, Capesthorne Hall, Gawsworth Hall and Statfold Barn, we had several cars at each and joined up with the Cheshire region for Capesthorne. Some of the committee visited the Bleeding Wolf in May to see how things were after their refurbishment, unfortunately it would only be suitable for less than 25 people in the rooms they were prepared to allocate. We looked at some venues suggested by members and I am pleased to say we have selected Moorville Hall for our region meetings, this has a good car park and a couple of suitable rooms – only one potential drawback, we have had to change the meeting day to the third Wednesday of the month. The first meeting is planned for Wednesday 21st July provided we are given the go-ahead from the Bristol office and Covid restrictions allow.
