May regional news
Bedfordshire Region
In early May twelve members with partners, a total of 24 enjoyed a three-night stay near Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast.
As planned on the drive up North nearly everyone met at the NY500 Café situated just south of Pickering with the onward journey in the afternoon to The Dunsley Hall Hotel. Some stopping off at the Goathland station situated on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway
The next couple of days did not have a fixed itinerary, but several members grouped together with visits to many places in the area. One route covered by many on different days was Danby Beacon and visitor centre near Castleton, then the Blakey Ridge road to Hutton-le-Hole, with visits to Ryedale Folk Museum. Then up to Rosedale Abbey and Grosmont rail station. Everyone visited nearby Whitby and some to Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay and Scarborough. Visits also to Rievaulx Abbey and Rachel really gave her F Type some exercise with a run to the Tan Hill Inn in the Yorkshire Dales.
Several members did also exercise their walking boots. The weather was fantastic, and an excellent time was had by all. Thanks to JEC York & District Region for recommending the Hotel, which provided excellent food and accommodation.
