Three Counties Region News
Following a long, hot summer weather forecasters predicted torrential rain for the Three Cocks Steam Rally near Hay-on-Wye but the majority of hardy souls still produced a good show with 20 Jaguars, a few hundred other classics and steam traction engines. A week later brilliant weather greeted a number of classic cars at Tibberton, Glos., village fete which was largely a horticultural and craft show and many traditional fete amusements and a band. Bank holiday Monday saw, I am informed, nearly 2,000 classic cars at Pershore Plum Festival finale, helped by good weather again. This is one of the best shows around. The town shops are mostly open with sales discounts and the street markets are very busy selling plums or plum products (wine, gin, sausages and pies, etc.). We even attracted members from the Costa Blanca and hope they return next year. Cars varied in age from a 1904 Talbot CT2K to a 2018 Ford 5.0L Mustang GT. Members of the public were interested in both the old and new Jaguars and hopefully we will gain new members soon. We are hugely indebted to Joyce for 10 years of organising our group and to Jason for arriving early to guard our allotted space and arrange the cars. Shelia and Lol cooked sausages and burgers and members also donated cakes. Many thanks to all of them.
