Thank you Neil and Sue for organising this visit to Cadwell Park. Of course July had started oh so well with record breaking temperatures, but this could not last, and so this "Vintage Sports Car Race Meeting" was by contrast, rather wet. However this did not dampen our spirits with enthusiastic club members determined to enjoy the racing.
Cadwell Park is a dramatic two mile undulating circuit, fondly nicknamed the 'mini-Nürburgring', and this year it is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Located 10 miles north of Horncastle and five miles south of Louth, the Lincolnshire circuit is certainly one of the most dramatic race circuits in the country, and in the wet it is particularly challenging. It was great to see the vintage sports cars being put through their paces.
Before the afternoon race session our club was invited to participate in a demonstration lap, where it became apparent just how steep and undulating the two mile race circuit really was. It was an unforgetable, albeit brief experience.
