A lot of effort goes into planning club outings, so a big thank you to Jan and Dave for all their hard work ensuring that our four day road trip into Wales went well. See below for more about the trip.
A few club members broke the journey with a night in Shrewsbury before venturing east to our hotel in Betws-y-Coed. Would the last leg be at 20 miles per hour, or more?
Tuesday.... We all like a steam train
After a relaxing breakfast we set off to Blaenau Ffestiniog for a scenic ride on the narrow gauge railway. Considering that the trains run every day it is commendable that they are so immaculately clean and highly polished.
Wednesday - free to explore and enjoy an ice cream or two.
The weather continued to improve on our second day, and so we were set free to enjoy local attractions, cafes and historic gardens.
Thursday - Following another substantial "Full Welsh Breakfast" we said goodbye to club members.
It took a few days to slow down and accept the Welsh pace of life, the 20mph speed limit even allowed the driver to appreciate the stunning and mountainous scenery, whist the navigator continued to keep their eyes peeled for the temporary speed limits. It was certainly a change from the fenlands!
So again a big thank you to Jan and Dave for making it happen, but please be warned, that as the trip was so successful we would all like to do it again!
