JEC South Lincs - October 2023 Club News.

More than twenty members enjoyed tasty meals at the Wishing Well Inn at Dyke, before being joined by others for October’s well-attended meeting. Various options for next year’s calendar were discussed, amid the usual sociable banter. The committee will be busy over the coming weeks, arranging as many of the membership’s preferred outings and speakers as possible, with a view to creating another full and interesting programme of events.

Details of all activities planned for 2024 will be outlined following the AGM, to be held on 13th February, and, as always, posted on the region’s webpages.

Our popular annual treasure hunt was blessed with sunshine, meaning that participants began the day with a pleasant drive over to the Golf Hotel at Woodhall Spa where we were welcomed with coffee and biscuits prior to receiving details of our mission. Several teams then set out on foot, exploring the attractive town that was once home to the 617 (Dambusters) Squadron, in search of answers to the fiendish clues we had been given. During the hunt, attempts were made to sabotage other teams, mental arithmetic was thoroughly tested, and little-known historical facts about this charming place were uncovered. On completion of the task, we continued our convivial conversations over drinks and an excellent lunch. After a closely fought challenge, the victor’s spoils were eventually shared by Jan, Dave, Lyn, and Martin. Congratulations to them and a huge ‘thank you’ to Carol, Russ, Sue, and Phill, who organised such a splendid day for us. THANK YOU.
