JEC South Lincs. July 2024 Club News.
June began with a very well attended trip to the Military Airshow at Shuttleworth. Our chairman invited other JEC Regions to join us, so we were pleased to welcome members from Nottinghamshire and Borders, Cambridgeshire, and Bedfordshire, as well as a group from Area 31 of the Jaguar Drivers’ Club.
Neil had arranged for all the cars to be parked together, close to the flightline, where the gleaming collection of Jaguars created an impressive display.
The event was blessed with glorious weather and there was plenty of time to explore Shuttleworth House and the Swiss Gardens before watching the spectacular aeroplane and helicopter displays.
The following weekend, four couples participated in Spalding and East Elloe Classic Car Club’s annual charity run. We set off from Waterside Garden Centre, Baston, and toured through pretty villages and country lanes to Stapleford Park hotel for lunch, before meandering on to the finish at Grimsthorpe Castle.
In mid-June, our ‘maritime division’ organised a wonderful day out on their boats. Many thanks to Neal and Davina, and their sumptuous Sealine, and to Russ and Carol, and their equally beautiful narrowboat, for taking 24 of us on a delightful trip along the River Trent from Farndon to Fiskerton and back again. We were joined by another two members for an excellent late lunch at the Farndon Ferry, to round off a lovely day.
At our sociable monthly meeting, details about forthcoming events were provided and options for 2025 discussed. See our web pages for more information.
