JEC South Lincs. - January 2025 News

At our first meeting of 2025, we were delighted to welcome two new members, Bill and Keith. Unfortunately the latter fell foul of a jinx that has seen several newcomers buy the ‘bad news’ raffle ticket, requiring them to bring a bottle of wine to the next meeting. Meanwhile, Russ was pleased to win January’s ‘good news’ bottle. Our thanks go to Jon for organising an entertaining quiz, which proved that many of us have forgotten most of the trivia that we once knew. Luckily the stakes were not too high, with the winning team sharing the somewhat disappointing prize of a solitary biscuit, much to everyone else’s amusement.

Looking ahead to better weather, our driving season will begin, as usual, with a breakfast meeting at Doddington Hall, Lincoln on 1st April. There will be a reminder of how to navigate Tulip Routes at the meeting before Drive it Day, which is scheduled to start at The Wishing Well Inn, Dyke, where breakfast rolls should provide enough sustenance to see participants through a 53-mile route, encompassing country lanes and villages, to their lunch venue at The Black Horse, Baston. In addition to the established favourites of a river cruise, our summer barbecue, and a return to Shuttleworth, the 2025 calendar will include several new events, including visits to Bomber Command, Lincoln; Country Fayres at both Kimbolton and Revesby; Ladies Day at Market Rasen racecourse; and trips to Bletchley Park and Brooklands. See our JEC webpages and Facebook for more details.
