JEC South Lincs. - January 2024 Club News

There was an excellent turn-out for the first meeting of 2024, which saw us welcome two new members, Gary and Roy.

The evening was largely spent watching the chairman’s PowerPoint presentation about the exciting programme of events planned for the coming year, prior to the usual sociable banter.

Our new venture of offering members an opportunity to enjoy informal lunches throughout the winter months has proved popular. Many thanks to Maggie and George for organising January’s meal at The Black Bull, Donington.

We kick-off the driving season with a breakfast gathering at Doddington Hall on 2nd April, followed by a longer run on Drive-It-Day, when our 55-mile Tulip route will guide us through the attractive villages and countryside of Rutland before a well-deserved Sunday lunch at Burley Golf Club, Stamford. On 28th May there will be a drive out to Baumber Walled Gardens, near Horncastle, for afternoon tea. And in case you suspect that all our outings are just an excuse to eat out, on 2nd June we will attend the Warbirds Airshow at Shuttleworth.

Our focus shifts from sky to water on 11th June, with a boat trip on the River Trent, punctuated by a pub lunch. And over the following weeks we will hold our annual barbecue, host an ‘Open Bonnets Evening’, have a fish and chip supper on board a train travelling along the Nene Valley Railway, admire ‘Just Jane’ and explore the Lincolnshire Aviation Museum at East Kirkby, and tour the operations room at RAF Digby.
