JEC South Lincs. - AGM February 2024

February began with the Annual General Meeting, which was well-attended and even attracted at least seven welcome new members.

The Chairman and Treasurer gave their respective reports, interspersed with witty asides and amusing cartoons to ensure that members remained awake. Thereafter, the Treasurer and Secretary ‘retired’ but this proved a pointless exercise because, having expressed their willingness to stand again, they were swiftly re-elected to the same posts. Gary was then formally elected as an events co-ordinator, having been co-opted to that role previously. Members also voted to keep the Regional subscription at £10 per head, clearly recognising that this modest fee offers excellent value for money. Our thanks go to Julie who, following the formal AGM, kindly volunteered to rejoin the committee, and was promptly co-opted before she could change her mind!

With the official business completed, the chairman spent the remainder of the evening battling with his recalcitrant computer to run through a PowerPoint presentation outlining the exciting programme of events confirmed for the coming year. The good news raffle was won by Kev, while Chris Clark ‘won’ the ‘bad news’, meaning that he must donate a bottle of wine next month.

Later that week, 21 members met for lunch at Damon’s Restaurant, Lincoln, where there was an opportunity to catch up on the social chit-chat that usually happens at the monthly meeting but had taken a back seat to AGM matters. Several dessert-lovers rounded off a splendid gathering by sampling a range of ice-creams at Daisy Made.
