Many thanks to our members who turned out on another cold morning to help plant trees with Reimagining the Levels. This time 350 trees of several varieties were waiting to be planted at a site just outside Shepton Mallet. The day was a great success with all the trees planted successfully and nice hot soup and cakes were on hand from the landowners to keep everyone motivated.
There are a few more planting sessions to come, see below from RtL:
Saturday 5th February, we are planning a Community Planting event near Kingston St Mary, on the edge of the Quantock Hills. The village of Kingston has been flooded in recent years and this planting will go some way in slowing the flow of water. The picture above is of the site, and you can see how lovely it is. It will be planted with 320 trees and shrubs. The landowner can provide parking, toilets and cake. Let me know if you can join us and I will send directions.
Sunday 13thFebruary we hope you can join us in planting beside the Bridgwater/Taunton Canal near Durston. 440 trees and shrubs are planned for there in an ongoing and exciting project. The owner is able to provide shelter, toilets (basic), parking and light refreshments.
Sunday 27th February we are planting at Merricks Organic Farm near Langport. More details to follow on that one as it has only just been arranged.
Full instructions for planting dates and venues are communicated via the JEC Volunteer Planters WhatsApp group - please let us know if you wish to be added to this group.
