JEC Somerset Region New Year Drive out​

Despite the best efforts of the British weather in January, 17 cars and 35 hardy Somerset members assembled in a dry but cold Teals Farmshop Cafe. After a hearty breakfast we all set off on our New Year Drive Out with a blast up the A303 and then a leisurely drive through the beautiful countryside of Somerset, Devon and Dorset to our lunch stop at Portland Bill. After traveling all the way with the top down, the weather finally caught up with us 300m from our destination when we were hit with gale force winds and torrential rain. However this did not dampen the spirits and we had a good lunch by which time the rain had vanished and we were able to stroll past the lighthouse for amazing views out to sea and were even treated to a seal playing in the surf. A collection was taken for our charity of the year Whizz Kidz.
A great start to 2022 and so good to see friends again and to welcome several new members.
