JEC Somerset Region Isle of Man Tour

Two years late but worth the wait! The JEC Somerset Isle of Man Tour finally took place and we had a great time.18 members in 9 cars met at Heysham ferry port for a calm crossing arriving in mid afternoon giving us a chance to explore Port Douglas at leisure

The programme was packed and the next 3 days were a hive of activity starting with a photoshoot in the pitlane in front of the grandstand and then a run around the TT course – all 37 miles - and a lunch stop at the famous Creg Ny Baa pub. Then down to Laxey for a trip on the Snaefell mountain railway up to the summit – arriving in clear blue skies for fantastic views but quickly descending into thick fog! Day 2 saw us visit the famous IOM Motor Museum – an amazing mix of unusual cars and vehicles in a private collection, the Jurby Transport Museum and a beautiful drive down the west coast via the Niabyll, Peel and the Sloc to The Sound and Calf of Man where we reassembled for a well-earned afternoon tea. Day 3 was home day but with an afternoon sailing we were able to make the most of the morning with several people taking the electric railway to Ramsay and back – a very different way to view the island. With lots of free time factored in everyone was able to maximise their time visiting the areas they wanted, but it was lovely to do things together as a club and to meet each evening over supper to reflect on the day.
Our thanks to the kind compliments from all those involved - we definitely had a good time ourselves.
