The day started with bacon rolls and coffee all laid out in our own private meeting room providing an opportunity to meet fellow members before the tours.
We split into smaller groups for the guided tours of the museum with our volunteer guides. Their knowledge of the collection was amazing, and we all certainly learnt more about the cars than we would have going around on our own.
Next was a tour of the restoration workshops and paint shop with Chris the workshop manager. This provided an interesting insight to the skills of what was a comparatively small workforce. We were able to see many cars in various stages of restoration and paint processes.
At 1.30 pm we had a very interesting talk from Chris Copson, Head of Collections, giving us an insight into how the museum was started, its development during the covid shutdown, how it is today, together with his vision for the next 3 to 5 years.
This was followed by an excellent lunch with free time for the rest of the day to enjoy the museum.
