JEC Derbyshire Region Monthly Report - July 2019

This is the report for the Derbyshire Region which will appear in the September Magazine. It is reproduced here as soon as it is available, and may include photos that are not printed in the magazine.

Our first event of the month was the Derby Classic Car and Retro Show on Sunday 7th July and we were again blessed with good weather and had an excellent turn out of cars, and some members who we had not seen before. If the gentleman who was selling the lovely early Daimler can let me have his details I will circulate the car round our group. Also there was another member with a beautiful Suffolk Replica and likewise if I can have your details I will put you on the mailing list.

We had the club raffle car on display and sold an excellent £1138 worth of tickets, far more than expected, so thanks to everyone who helped on the day.

The following Tuesday was out monthly meeting and “Bonnets Up” was planned. The weather wasn’t good but we decided to go ahead as last year it was delayed month after month due to weather. As it turned out we managed to dodge the showers and the overall winner of the Hatfield Cup was Graham and Pam Pilkington with their beautiful E Type Convertible and for the modern group which was cars from 1997 onwards, the winner of the Don Holland Cup was Barrie Birkin in his rather nice 2019 XJ Saloon. Congratulations to you both and thanks to everyone who came along.

A few members attended Oakamoor Hill Climb on Saturday 1th July and they said it was an excellent day. There is a full report together with photos on the club web site and thanks to Hartley Jenkinson for this.

On the 21st July it was the Ashover Car Show, which was attended by some of the Derbyshire members. It appears North Staffordshire and Doncaster Region had a presence there and it may be we look at attending as a group next year if anyone is interested and joining forces with the neighbouring regions. Again I think Hartley has posted a report on the web site so please check this out as he has done a tremendous amount of work in this area and it is worth taking a look.

For our September meeting we have the Tideswell First Responders coming to give us a talk and demonstration, and I urge all of you who can to come along, as I think you will find it fascinating and very informative.
