JEC Derbyshire Region Monthly Report - August 2019

A busy month for the Derbyshire region, with the summer Run Out and Sunday lunch at Biggin Hall

For this month’s meeting we had our “run out” through the lovely Derbyshire countryside which was organised by Hartley and Rachel Jenkinson. They did an excellent job and we had a good turnout of 18 cars starting in Baslow then travelling via Owler Bar, Hathersage, Castleton, Winnats Pass, Edale, Calver and finishing at the Crispin Inn at Great Longstone a total of around 40 miles. It’s a beautiful route and if any other regions want details just let me know. A more detailed report is on the web site plus photos and if any of you have additional photos from the run let us know as we will add them.

On Sunday 25th we organised a lunch at Biggin Hall, meeting first in Tissington for coffee then driving 10 minutes to Biggin. The weather couldn’t have been better and whilst at Tissington the Morgan Club came through in a variety of cars from early 3 wheelers to modern 3 and 4 wheelers, a lovely sight and sound to add to the morning.

Biggin Hall did an excellent job looking after us and the food was first class with everyone enjoying the day, so much so we have booked a Christmas Lunch with them on Saturday 14th December, so please put this in the diary. More details and menu will follow by email.

In October we will have a talk by David Brocklehurst on Medical Detection Dogs which should be interesting. They are deployed in all types of circumstances and save lives all over the world, so please support this event. We will give a donation from the group and have a collection on the evening.

On Tuesday 22nd October we are organising a lunch at Carsington Water and for those energetic ones a pre-lunch walk is being arranged by Phil Cheetham. There is also the option of canoeing or sail boarding if you really want to work up an appetite!!

If any of you have ideas for our November meeting then let us know otherwise it will be a noggin and natter at the Robin Hood.
