Having done the Morgan Factory tour in the morning - 18th April (see main report), Nigel and I set off for Prescott Hillclimb after lunch at the Morgan factory. Therein resides the Bugatti Museum. Prescott was purchased by The Bugatti Owners Club several years ago, and the museum is a delightful, compact but comprehensive collection of all things Bugatti.
The journey was not entirely uneventful - an 'elderly' bearded cyclist decided to exit a road on our left, immediately in front of the XK and Nigel thought he was a goner (the cyclist that is!). Lucky for him that the XK's brakes are up to scratch!
I confess to not having taken as many pictures as normal at the museum, there was too much to see!
The design for Bugatti's first car was bought by Peugeot, and Bugatti collected a royalty cheque every month thereafter as a result.
I didn't realise that he also designed a plane, which unfortunately crashed on a development flight. There was only one made! However, there was a model of it in the museum (see photo below).
He also designed many locomotives, models of which were also present.
There were a couple of Bugatti cars, on loan from Beaulieu Motor Museum, and they were superb. See photo's. They had only recently arrived so the museum hadn't got the backdrop sorted when we were there.
Entry cost is only £5.50 with gift aid - a bargain if you are in the area and have a couple of hours to spare.
