The organiser Richard Pugh welcomed all 22 attendees to the first meeting of the JEC Cornwall. The first topic was "what do we do to move forward". Much discussion took place and the main wishes were to have regular meetings, drives around Cornwall to get to know the County better and finish with a lunch. Some members said we had to be careful in the summer and not take any narrow routes which damage cars.
Should we have one venue or two? The consensus was for two- one in the west and one in the east. The request was to try and get venues which allowed members a maximum of one hour travelling time. Also have a mix of day meetings and evening meetings. Geoff Trewella said he would organise our first run out with a possible starting point at the new A30 services and maybe finish on the coast for lunch. I will liaise with Geoff and we look forward to our first outing towards the end of September.
Other venues for outings were-
Davidstow War Museum
Car Museum at Moretonhampstead
Bodmin Steam Railway
Camel Valley Vineyards
Also may be a picnic at Prideaux House at Padstow
Kenny Hall at Leedstown- Jaguar Collection
Although this was not an AGM we have to start somewhere and the members agreed that I should become Chairman. We are still missing a secretary but we were delighted when Carol Swift said she would become Treasurer.
The members agreed that we should have a Cornwall Region membership of £10 per person per year to help with speaker costs, maybe venue costs plus others if required. Also for Trophies if we have a Cornwall Region open day.
Suggestions for speakers were:-
Car repairs and Body Work -STM Bodyworks
RNLI
Blood Bikes
A local Policeman
Members agreed that it would be nice to have a Christmas lunch/dinner.
Chairman to investigate.
Our next meeting is at the Foxes Revenge, Cavynick Farm TR8 5AF on the 20th September at 7pm. The speaker will be from the RNLI.
