Grampian Region held its annual gathering and car show at Drum Castle on Sunday 28th July. Hundreds of classic car fans visited making it one of the north-east’s most popular car shows of its kind. Held since 2000 the event is a much-anticipated occasion, and it did not disappoint. The event also supports local charities, raising over £80,000 over the course of several years. Visitors soaked up the sun while seeing iconic Jaguars and Daimlers, dating back a number of decades. The local dealer: Peter Vardy Jaguar also had four new cars on show. Visitors had the chance to win raffle prizes and enjoy some strawberries and cream while soaking in the music from the Gordon Highlanders Association Pipe Band. Some of the car highlights of the show included a Jaguar Mark V, an XJ220 - that made a brief appearance mid-afternoon - a freshly recreated XKSS replica, a nice pair of classic XK’s from Elgin amongst other XK’s and the Alvis cars of the guest car club. Furthest travelled was a member from Fort William. Thanks again and well done to all involved. Without our loyal members, donators, supporters and fans the show could not go on! Look out for the ‘Italian Job’ car run and evening meal a little later this month.
