JEC South Lincs. club member Gary Edmonds and his XK X150. Congratulations
Gary writes...... My car is featured in the current issue of Jaguar World Magazine and I am happy to report also the cover car.
This came about after being invited by the Jaguar Drivers' Club to display my car at the Diamond Jubilee celebration at their National Day at Coombe Abbey.
As an early pre production XK X150 ( she is chassis no:86 ) and was used as a "prove out vehicle" and later a press car retained by the factory for the first 18 months of use.
The JDC wanted my car to form the end of a timeline display celebrating 20 years of the previous X100 model, my car was placed on the end as a lead to the future X150.
It was with both great surprise and much honour that my car received the award for best modern XK8/XK on the day and I received my award from Sir Norman Dewis.
Paul Walton editor of Jaguar World contacted me and said they would like to feature my car and invited me for a days photo shoot at an airfield near Peterborough.
The shoot consisted of two cars, mine and a fellow JEC member Peter Simpson with his late XK8 S convertible. We had the cars photographed together and individually, before doing the cover shoot. This involved driving closely behind a camera car down a narrow lane, keeping about 3 feet from the camera car and two feet away from Peter's car, nerve racking moments! Paul Walton then test drove each car rather enthusiastically to draw his own conclusions.
