Wednesday 19 March from 8pm - Club Night at Tottington Manor (off the A2037 on the road to Edburton) BN5 9LJ. Peter Leake – From Shadow Factory to Jaguar – the Story of Browns Lane. Peter is the current Chair of the JEC and, as a Director, is responsible for liaising with JLR. He has had an incredible career with Jaguar and was the Dealer Training Manager during the launch of many cars built there including the XK8. This special talk looks at the old home of Jaguar Cars, how it evolved from its days as a wartime shadow factory to its final demise under Ford in 2005. Far from being a talk all about what might have been, Peter takes a fun side look at the factory he recalls so fondly, with plenty of laughs along the way! Tottington Manor will be serving food at 6:45pm. As they will now be providing it plated straight from the kitchen, we expect it to be brought out fairly promptly. However, they will keep some back for you if you are a little late. The food this month will be Featherblade Steak, Mashed Potato & Seasonal Vegetables, Red Wine Gravy for £17.50 per person. Please let Sandra and Phillip Webb know, by Friday 14 March on 01243 554037 or [email protected] if you wish to eat there. If, after having booked, you then find that you cannot attend, please tell Sandra and Phillip straight away.
Wednesday 16 April at 8pm. Club Night at Tottington Manor (off the A2037 on the road to Edburton) BN5 9LJ from 8pm. Richard West - Well known to West Sussex Region members, Richard is making his annual visit to Tottington Manor and as part of his chat with members and guests he will be giving us a full insight into the Club year ahead. For this year, rather than propose a ‘themed talk’, Richard is going to ‘trawl’ his memory banks on the night and relate some interesting experiences from his 40 years in the automotive and motorsport industries… It promises to be interesting, so if you have any questions Club or otherwise, here’s your chance. Please come along to what will be a great evening of Club chat, Richard’s passion for Jaguar and some interesting facts, entertaining stories and no doubt, some personal past adventures! As an excellent cook, (his wife’s words, not his) lover of fine wines and premium cigars, fly fishing, furniture and property restoration and a chap who at 17 years of age fancied himself as a stand-up comedian working in northern working men’s clubs, it could be fun as there will be plenty to talk about!
