Essex and Suffolk Borders - February News

News from around the region

We recently had our AGM and long serving committee members Bob Weaver and Clive Gowers decided to stand down and make way for new blood, we would all like to offer our sincere thanks for their dedication and hard work, our club wouldn't be where it is today without their contribution. In their place we would like to welcome Peter Dyne, Kevin Cosgrave and Darren Staples who I'm sure will be great assets to the club.

Our charity for 2019 was Help for Heroes and through our fundraising we raised £784.75 which was very well received.

We had our February lunch at the Clacton Golf Club which was a new venue for us. Considering we had storm Ciara that day, it was well attended, especially as some members had to travel great distances to get there. It goes to show this is more of a social event than just a meal, so many thanks to those who attended.

The next social events will be our Chairman's drive it day to Banham Zoo on the 19th April, anyone who is interested please contact Geoff or Martin. After that we have our long weekend away to Bodelwyddan Castle in Wales, which should be an enjoyable drinking weekend!

On a sad note it is with deep regret that I have to report the passing of our friend John Higby, who was a very well liked member of our club, and will be deeply missed by all. Our condolences go to his family at this sad time.
