Essex & Suffolk Borders September News

News from around the region

The last show attendance of the year, in the centre of Colchester, went very well in September. The weather was lovely, with good company and a wide selection of cars. My ticket for going in a Colchester bus lane early on a Sunday morning was not so welcome, but you can't win them all!We had a speaker from the RNLI at the last meeting, who are going to be our charity for next year, and it just confirmed the commitment of the volunteers who man the lifeboats to rescue people from life or death situations.

We are busy putting a calendar of events together for next year, starting with the lunches in January, February and March, and a new events list will be sent out once venues are finalised.

Our Christmas meal at the December meeting will be restricted to 50 people attending, so please contact Kevin Cosgrave to book a place if you have not already done so. I regret there will be no room for people to turn up as usual for 8 pm, so attendance in December is by pre-booking only.

Members were saddened to hear of the death of Brian Cakebread. He had been a member for many years, was generous in his support of our raffles and auctions for charity, and was always a gentleman - he will be missed.
