Essex & Suffolk Borders - June News

News from around the region

The show season is now well under way and several are now fully booked for spaces. Please refer to the latest list for dates if you have not put your name down yet and contact the appropriate committee member if would like to come. If you are receiving this magazine, but have not heard from the Region for a while, it could be that you have not renewed your regional subscription this year and Karen is not permitted to keep contact details of 'lapsed' members. So do please get in touch if this is the case, as we would love to see you again. We also may need to contact you regarding shows and visits you have indicated you would attend.

We tried out a new show for us recently at Thetford in June. Six cars attended to see if it was worth adding to the mix of different events. We enjoyed the day and there were certainly some different cars there! Those into full originality would have lost sleep over some of the exhibits - think rat look crossed with Ghostbusters, then triple it and you get the idea.

A just recognisable Mondeo with the bonnet hinged on the side, propped open with a pick axe (and a skull on the roof rack) drew lots of attention, although I doubt if he takes it to Tescos. Their emblazoned club clothing with a few choice words was a little different to ours, too! However an exhibitor with a normal looking XJ chatted to us about Jaguars for some time and will most likely join the JEC.

Each to his own, as they say and nice to see people enjoying their cars, whatever the format. The weather here in the east has been the best in the country for a few weeks, so I hope you are out enjoying yours, despite the petrol prices!
