Essex and Suffolk Borders - October News

All the news from the region

We rounded off our car shows for the summer with two completely different weather scenarios. Duxford at the end of August brought wind and rain in abundance and far less cars attending from other clubs. Empty pitches everywhere and a large contingent of MX5s had all gone by lunchtime. We stuck it out, joined by two guest members from Rugby and Lincolnshire and fortunately there is a lot to see at the Imperial War Museum inside the gigantic hangers. By contrast, the Colchester show in mid September was surprisingly warm and a very pleasant day was had with some lovely vehicles on display. One of our members won a cup, but with a superb 1920s Sunbeam!
Our September meeting featured Grange Jaguar bringing along a new I Pace for us to look at. A great looking car, but members were still undecided about the limited range in the discussion that followed.
A new events list will have been sent to you giving details of next year's activities being planned and this includes three Sunday lunches to get the year off to a good start; names to the respective organisers, please. By the time you read this the NEC trip will be imminent, followed by the black tie extravaganza of our annual Dinner Dance. The theme, as always, is secret, but Bob and Clive have really pushed the boat out this year.
As always, we hope to have a varied programme but if you have any ideas for shows you wish to attend, or speakers for meetings, we will be pleased to hear from you.
