Essex and Suffolk Borders - October News

News from our chairman and from around the region

The recent mild weather in October has resulted in some classics out and about in Suffolk, but now the clocks have gone back it really does feel that winter is on the way. However we can look forward to lots of social events over the forthcoming months, with the Steve Dunnett Dinner on 30 November and our Christmas meal at The Cricketers on 10 December. This will be followed by our golf club lunches in the first three months of 2025, commencing with Diss on Sunday 19 January. They are always a good opportunity to get together for a chat, and the carvery is good value.

A few members are going to the NEC Classic Car show; always a good day out and no doubt a bit more merchandise will be purchased from the JEC stand! We used to have a coach pre Covid, but unfortunately the number of members willing and able to get up early and walk round all day are gradually declining.

I am writing this on Budget Day, so await to hear what Ms Reeves is doing about the road tax. I certainly pay enough on the XJ and XK for the modest mileage they do each year, so hope they don't increase too much. And on that note, Happy Christmas everyone!
