Essex and Suffolk Borders October and November News

News - such as it is - from around the region!!!

As I write this, the government have announced a further one month lockdown for November, in the hope that we can at least see the odd person in December. We will all be glad to see the end of 2020. So the year will finish with no NEC trip, no Dinner Dance and no Christmas buffet. I had a new member write to me the other day, eager to join when meetings resume, which I sincerely hope will be in the Spring. In the meantime he has an XE as an everyday car and had purchased an XKR (X100) which he was going to put on SORN for the winter. People's opinions vary on laying up the cars - I prefer to take them for runs on nice dry days to keep them running and the tyres turning, and experts say it is also the best way to keep the bodywork well ventilated.

In any case, a nice run on country roads must be good for anti-lockdown mental health, and you don't have to get out and speak to anybody. The acceleration of my XK 5.0 certainly put a smile on my face the other day when overtaking, and enjoying our Jaguars is what the club is all about.

Whatever we all finish up doing for Christmas, do enjoy yourselves, and even more so than any previous season, let's hope we have a Happy New Year!
