Essex and Suffolk Borders - May News

News from our chairman

Our Classic Car Show and Craft Fair at Rickinghall, on the Norfolk Suffolk border, drew over 1000 members of the public, echoing the visitor numbers last year. A lot of planning and preparation paid off and the show is a great way for our members to get stuck in on the day with marshalling and manning the entrance gate. A slot on the local radio station a few days beforehand and a double page spread in the Diss Express after the event were new additions this year and two couples approached us at the show to ask about joining the club.

The People's Choice award went to a lovely 1958 Bristol. A member's XK150 was second and a 1970 DB6 third. Various kind emails have been received saying how much they enjoyed it, so I am sure we will do it all again next year.

Our June meeting will feature a speaker from Colchester Zoo. We had a speaker from the zoo a few years ago, which we followed up with group visit. With many new members, we thought a revisit would go down well.

We are now well into the show season, so do please let the organiser know in good time the events you wish to attend as places are sometimes restricted. Have a good summer!
