Essex and Suffolk Borders December News

Chairmans Notes for the month

Our black tie Dinner Dance in November was a very good night, as usual and we were joined by many of our friends in Essex Thameside. The theme was a Paris nightclub this year, with an Eiffel Tower backdrop and a French singer with chansons d'amour. The evening continued with dancing and singing from our excellent Ratpack entertainer, who was off to do a Formula One party in Dubai, I understand. No doubt the Christmas buffet will go well at the December meeting.

Notification has been sent regarding the AGM in February and I would ask you to search around for items you would like to auction in April. If you disposed of your car related goods last time, we can try anything transportable; give Geoff a call if you have any queries.

My XK8 convertible is having its hood remedied at the moment as opening and closing had become slow and intermittent. I'm told draining the oil may not totally fix the problem as there are 18 feet of pipes, which should ideally be renewed. So it is now with a former Jaguar master technician " in several bits" awaiting the new set of pipes, which are being made. I hope it works - watch this space!

Finally spaces are available on our Sunday Lunches for the first three months of the year; please see the Schedule of Events for details.
