Essex and Suffolk Borders - August News

News from our chairman and from around the region

It is amazing to think our show season is nearly over already! As I write this at the end of August we have has a busy month, with attendances at Helmingham, Stonham and Orwell Bridge. Helmingham is always a very large show and a fixture on the calendar. The close proximity to the band this year was too much for some and we have already expressed our preferences for next year! Stonham saw a wide variety of vehicles, but we were intrigued by the excellent display of radio controlled lorries on a huge layout. They were reversing, signalling and driving around with realistic sound effects too and a JCB filled up a tipper truck with soil - all very well done.

The show at the Suffolk Food Hall, adjacent to the Orwell Bridge, was a new one to raise money for Cancer Charities. There were 240 vehicles there and the sunny weather and the setting made for a good day. There can't be many car shows where the odd ship sails past!

We are now turning to our events leading up to Christmas and have places available for our dinner, with Steve Dunnett providing the entertainment. This is on 30 November, so please get in touch with Geoff or Kevin if you would like to come. Similarly, our Christmas Dinner at the December club night is now available to book, so please get your names down for this popular event.
