Essex and Suffolk Borders - August News

News from around the region

The year seems to be rapidly going by, but we made the most of the August Bank Holiday by attending three events over the long weekend. Friday evening saw us occupying 39 seats at a performance of Jesus Christ Superstar at Frinton Summer Theatre after a meal out. Sunday was a car show attendance at Lavenham, where we welcomed a new member Jonathan Pearson and a white XK150 he had recently bought. We understand this will be the last show there, which is a shame as it attracts lots of visitors who have come to look round the attractive village and discover the car show as well.

Monday was something a bit different - we exhibited a line up of cars at Walsham le Willows Open Gardens, which gave the visitors something else to look at and chat about. Some members did not venture very far, as we were conveniently located in a garden where the burgers were cooking and the beer tent was located, but others looked at 20 or more gardens, with forty on offer. With an art exhibition, teas and cakes, retail stalls and a collection of tortoises, all enjoyed the day wandering around.

We are now reviewing shows available for next year, with just Colchester left to attend in 2022. Do let the committee know if you have any particular ideas for shows or a 'run' you would like to see included.
