News from around the region

A recent visit to Hyde Hall RHS Gardens near Chelmsford was enjoyed by the members attending, most of whom had not been before. There was a great selection of Jaguars to look at on their special Classic Car Day.

Thanks, Tony, for suggesting this and we hope to have a larger number of cars next time! Our line up was rather overshadowed by our neighbours in Thameside, who had two rows arranged in date order.

As I write this, our Kersey Mill trip is a few days away and Essex Classic Vehicle Show and Battlesbridge appear later in September. Our Speaker next meeting is from Colchester Zoo; unfortunately there are no plans to bring along anything furry for us to look at.

We are aiming to find speakers that will be of interest to all; our recent talk from the Fire Brigade went down well, but if you know of any suitable candidates, do please get in touch with a member of the committee.

Turning towards the end of the year, places are still available on the coach to the NEC on 12 November for the Classic Car Show, with pick ups in Colchester, Ipswich or Bury St Edmunds. Please contact Bob Welton or Geoff Short if you would like to come, as seats are selling out fast.

We are already looking at events for next year, with lunches booked for January and March and are considering an auction for a meeting date in the Spring. If you have any car related items you wish to sell, have a think about getting them out the loft and we will let you know further details in due course.
