Essex and Suffolk Borders - February News

So Boris has announced his 'roadmap' to recovery, and many members will have had at least their first jabs - perhaps some level of normality will return this summer, after all. Two households meeting outdoors, or the rule of 6, will not do much for the club from 29 March, and similarly from 17 May outdoors " gatherings of 30 people will remain illegal". But as sporting events in indoor venues can have " 1000 people or half full, whichever is the lower figure" from this date, we can only hope some shows will return in the summer.

We have some provisional dates for your diaries at the moment, and I will send another newsletter round as things become more firm. We have not heard anything about Euston or Weeting yet, but Maldon Motor Show is on the first weekend in July, Helmingham is scheduled for the 1 st August, and Lavenham 29 August.

Prior to those - on 6 June - a craft brewery at Redgrave, near to me in Rickinghall, is holding a small car show, and refreshments will be available. Undoubtedly craft ales as well! JDC and the Iceni Morris Minors will attend, and there is a lot of space, so that may be something to 'get the party started' as Shirley Bassey might say. It would be nice to meet up again at a smaller event, and again I will put further details in the newsletter.

I have had a conversation with David Manners group, who are offering the regions trade discount on parts. The amount of discount varies depending on the item purchased, and they supply parts for Minors and MX5s as well as Jaguars. The method of getting the discount does not seem to be finalised yet, but I hope to get this sorted shortly.

I hope you are all keeping well, summer is round the corner, and things will improve in the next few months (they keep telling us) so see you soon.
