With participants coming from all corners of our Region and with a few new faces taking part, we set off from the Phoenix Sports & Social Club, Rotherham. No mean feat as there seemed to be a number of Sunday league football matches taking place. Quite apt really as our route for the day was to take in the four main football stadiums in the area; Rotherham FC’s New York, Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane, Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough & Barnsley FC’s Oakwell. In the great tradition of Jaguars on tour, we had a couple of U-turns and yours truly mistyped an exit number for a roundabout but that all added to the fun, I hope. Our final destination being Wentworth Woodhouse, the House not just the village. Many thanks go to Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust and especially Robert, our guide, who made the day and looked after us like royalty. If you’ve seen the House in the press recently and have been thinking of paying a visit, book the tour and I can assure you it will be worth it. We will be making a return visit in September to the Gemini Events Classic Car Show so why not come along and see for yourself.
