Regional News; Devon celebrate 30th Anniversary with Corsica Event

Officially affiliated to the club in 1989 the Devon Region this year celebrates it's 30th Anniversary, and to start things off in fashion a unique event, with the Daimler Corsica at it's heart has been created for Wednesday March 27th.

The Daimler Corsica was a one-off concept car named after a 1931 Daimler drophead coupe. The idea of building a modern equivalent of the Daimler Corsica came from the late David Boole, Jaguar's Director of Communications and Public Affairs, who wanted to commemorate the Centenary of the Daimler motor car in 1996.

Built by the Special Vehicle Operations team, as a part time project over a period of eighteen months, the car is based on the Jaguar/Daimler X300 saloon car platform, but with a reduced wheelbase.

It was originally intended that this would be a fully running car, but this never happened.

However in 2007, in association with the JEC, David Marks was approached to complete the project.

At this event, held at The Corn Barn in Cullompton, the Devon Regionwill be welcoming David Marks himself, along with the car, to share his story, and journey in bringing the Corsica to life.

Ticket registration for the event has now been launched. Tickets costs £30.00 per person, and include a two course meal. To request yours please send an email, highlighting the number you would like to [email protected] or call Patch Jobson on 01398 351101
