Sometimes good things arrive in three's!
Not only did we wake up to glorious blue skies on Thursday 21st October, but we also had a scenic run through Derbyshire countryside and a fantastic lunch.
Geoff and Roger had organised a lunch at Carsington Reservoir, and Hartley planned a run from Hassop Station Cafe through the scenic Derbyshire countryside (plus a bit of Staffordshire) to get there.
From Hassop Station, nine cars made their way westwards via Ashford in the Water, Monsal Head, Wardlow, Tideswell and then via Chelmorton, over the A515 to the B5053 through Longnor and Warslow. We then headed south west towards Ashbourne and on to Carsington, a total of 45 miles.
Everyone managed to arrive and no-one got lost! the 45 mile route did stray into Staffordshire for a short while, but the weather held, as the photo's at Carsington show.
Roger and Geoff were at Carsington to marshal the cars into the reserved space. If only I had read Rogers email and turned Right in the car park instead of Left, the 5 cars behind me would not have had the guided tour of the car park! I blame Geoff for not wearing the expected yellow Flo-Vest!
As we parked up, Ray's concept Jaguar (aka Bentley Continental GT) parked next to Ian and Judith's E-Type (the only classic in a sea of XK's!). We also had an XJ and and an XF.
The consensus seemed to be that the run was very enjoyable.
The lunch was excellent, as it always has been at Carsington.
Perhaps we should be organising more runs followed by lunch as part of next year's events.
