This month we had David Brocklehurst return and talk to us about Medical Detection Dogs, a Charity he has been involved with for some time. It was a fascinating evening and the dogs are trained in two specific areas, one for Bio Detection, where they can detect the tiniest smells associated with cancer and other diseases, and secondly Medical Alert Assistance, where they help people with complex medical conditions when they are in danger of having a life threatening event. The talk was accompanied by a couple of videos and it costs the Charity around £2.5 million per year to operate so our small donation of just over £160 was gratefully received. If other Regions are interested they can contact me and I will let you have his details, as the volunteers are spread all over the country.
For November meeting we have no specific plans so will meet for a meal and chat at the Robin Hood and for December we are lunching at Biggin Hall on Saturday 14th December so if anyone else wants to come please let Roger know. The December meeting at Baslow may be cancelled so please check first before you go.
The committee is meeting shortly to look at a programme 2020, so if there is anything specific you want us to organise let us know please. The only date we have so far is the Derby Car Show which will be Sunday 5th July, so put it in your diaries please!
