At this months meeting our members Philip and Yvonne Haslam give us a talk on the epic journey they undertook last year in their 1954 XK 120 dhc. They are regulars on the rally scene and the car has done over 190,000 miles in their ownership. Last June they took the car to the northern tip of Norway and drove down through Finland/Estonia/Latvia/The Czech Republic etc, etc to their house in France, a total of 15 countries and 5,515 miles! It was an amazing talk and a wonderful adventure and there are more photos and details of two books available on the Derbyshire Region website on the JEC main site. A big thanks to Philip and Yvonne for their time and also bringing the car along for everyone to see, fresh from Moorland Classics, after being damaged by a Moose while travelling through Finland!!
By the time you read this we will have had our AGM at the April meeting, and we have a good programme for the year which hopefully has something for everyone.
One late addition to our events is the Baslow Classic Car Show on Sunday 7th July, where we have been invited to join the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club following our meeting up with them at the Gulliver’s Land of Lights Festival in February. This is an afternoon event, and more details will follow in the coming weeks, but please add this to your diary.
