Derbyshire Region Report for August 2023

This month we ran “Bonnets Up” following two delays earlier in the year due to the weather. We had a good turn out of over 25 cars and 40 plus members although we were thin on the ground with the earlier Jaguars which is perhaps a sign of the times!

We have two cups, The Hadfield Cup for cars up to 1995 and The Don Holland Cup for cars from 1996 onwards and in the first category there were only 4 cars to choose from which is the lowest number we have ever had. The winner was Howard Culley with his 1962 Series 1 E Type Roadster and The Don Holland Cup went to David Hough with his 1999 XK8 Coupe in a rather unusual shade of Alpine Green and was once owned by Sir David Jason. Congratulations to both winners and apologies we don’t have any individual photos of the cars but if you go on the club’s website and check out the Derbyshire Region there is a report and more photos.

As we head into the Autumn we are planning a lunch at Carsington Water in October and also have our trip to Northumberland to look forward to, also in October.

Postscript: Looking through the photo's taken on the night, here on the left below is David Hough's XK8. And the photo on the right is the engine bay of Howard's E Type. Apologies for only getting the engine bay and not the whole car!
