Derbyshire Region September 2021 Report

Report for September by Roger Wood

By the time you read this we will have had our lunch at Carsington Water and details will be included in the November report. The numbers are looking good so let’s hope for decent weather for the drive to the event from Hassop Station.

Our monthly meetings will continue till November, then as we are having our December lunch at Biggin Hall on Sunday 19th December we have decided there will not be a meeting at The Devonshire Arms in December. We are also considering having the first quarter meetings of 2022 at lunch time rather than the evening, as whilst this may preclude a few of you who are working we think there may be a better attendance as we all know the Derbyshire weather can be a bit unpredictable at this time and travelling in the daylight will be much better. We will be discussing this at the next meeting but if you can’t attend and want to email me or Geoff on the subject please do so.

There is also some criticism of the current venue regarding parking/food and suitability of the room, and we are more than aware of the problems. The Devonshire Arms stepped in at short notice following the closure of the Robin Hood and trying to find a location that suits the majority is quite difficult. The Baslow area is pretty central but has a limited offering but we are looking and again if anyone has ideas then please let us know. We are looking at speakers for future meetings but with the problems with the room it is not sensible at the moment. We hope things will revert to some form of normality soon but I have my doubts so we may have to live with the situation going forward.
