Derbyshire Region October Report

This is Roger's report for October which will appear in the next JEC magazine

We had a reasonable turn out for our monthly meeting on Tuesday 12th October with twenty-four in attendance and an enjoyable evening was had by all.

The previous Sunday Hartley Jenkinson and Nigel Mitchell attended the last Bicester Scramble of the year and there is an excellent article and photographs of the event on the Derbyshire Region section on the JEC website. There are also other articles and lots of photos from previous events so please have a look.

On Thursday 21st October we ventured to Carsington Water for lunch with twenty-seven turning up on the day. We had brilliant weather and a number met at Hassop Station for coffee and then followed a route organised by Hartley through the lovely Derbyshire countryside arriving at Carsington in time for lunch. As usual they looked after us very well and if other Regions are looking for a day out with lunch, then we can thoroughly recommend. We ended up with thirteen cars including Ian and Judith Fey in their E Type, Ray and Hilary Phillips in his Bentley Continental (they wanted some comfort that day!) and a large number of XK8’s/XK’s and Malcolm Groves in his XJ Saloon.

By the time you read this we will have had our November meeting and for December there will be no meeting at the Devonshire Arms, as we are having our Christmas Lunch at Biggin Hall on Sunday 19th December. I have thirty-seven on the list so far and we just have to hope the Derbyshire weather is kind to us on the day. At last years event we had snow in the morning, but it eventually cleared, and we all got home safely.

We are meeting the new owners of the Robin Hood later in November to discuss a possible return there in 2022, but need to see if the alterations have made will still give us our own room for monthly meetings, and we will report back next month.
